Yikun Chung

Korean tenor Yikun Carlos Chung graduated from the Higher School of Art (1988) and the National University (1992) in Seoul, and pursued his studies at the Verdi Conservatory of Milan (1995). He has received a number of awards from singing competitions, both in Korea and abroad (including the international contests of Toulouse, Genoa, Monte Carlo, Bilbao, and Madrid). His key stage creations have included the parts of Tebaldo (I Capuletti e i Montecchi), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Romeo (Romeo et Juliette), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La traviata), the Duke (Rigoletto), Macduff (Macbeth), Ismael (Nabucco), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Don José (Carmen), and others. He has guest appeared in Italy (Trieste, Cagliari), France (Avignon, Toulon), Monaco (Monte Carlo), Germany (Kassel), Austria (Vienna, Graz), Switzerland (Lucerne), and in other countries. Yikun Chung was named “Young Tenor of the Year 2001” by the prestigious German Opernwelt magazine.

The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
