Sylva Čmugrová

Soloist of the Prague State Opera

Sylva Čmugrová graduated from the Prague Conserfatory (Professor Jiřina Marková) and the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Professor Magdalena Hajóssyová). She attended master courses in the Italien Sienna, in Liechtenstein (Vaduz), České Budějovice and Karlovy Vary. She is a laureate of the international contests of Ema Destinová and Antonín Dvořák, a finalist of the international singing contests in Geneva and Milan. Since 1996 Čmugrová has been the soloist of the Prague State opera and has appeared a guests at other stages as well (Pilsen, Liberec, Karlín, etc.). Her roles include Olga (Eugen Onegin), Siebel (Faust), Fiodor (Boris Godunov), Niklas (Tales of Hoffmann), Lola (Rustic Chivalry), Orflofsky (Die Fledermaus), Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte), Varvara (Katia Kabanova).

The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
