Noé Colín

Bass-baritone Noé Colín studied at the International Opera Studio in Zurich, the National University of Mexico, and the School of Performing Arts of Toluca. From 1997 – 1999, he was a member of the opera house in Innsbruck, where his creations included the parts of Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), and Sparafucile (Rigoletto). Between 1999 and 2003, he was a member of the Wiener Volksoper, where he appeared as Oroveso (Norma), Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore), Don Pasquale, Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Geronio (Il turco in Italia), and Colline (La Bohème). Elsewhere, he guest appeared at the Wiener Kammeroper, as Nardo (La finta giardiniera); and in Spain, took part in the opening of the Teatro Cuyás in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, as Leporello (Don Giovanni). In January 2005, he won first prize at the International Voice Competition in Pescia, Italy. In the same year, he appeared opposite Anna Netrebko at the Opera Nacional de México and Rolando Villazón, as Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette). In the course of his career, he has so far created around fifty opera roles, both tragic and comic. In 2007 he sang Leporello at the National Theatre in Brno. The catalogue of venues at which he has guest appeared includes Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Maastricht, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Colombia (Bogotá), Guatemala, and others. He has worked with famous artists including Plácido Domingo, Carlo Cossutta, Luis Lima, Neil Shicoff, Bernd Weikl, Marcello Viotti, Riccardo Chailly, Alfred Eschwé, and others. Worth special mention in his discography is his account of Aliprando (Matilde di Shabran by Gioachino Rossini, Bongiovanni label).

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
