This Slovak tenor accomplished his private studies of singing in 1995 by a successful solo recital in Bratislava under auspices of Slovkoncert. In 1996 Lehotský passed a residency at the Mozart Academy in Krakow, master courses and workshops in Piešťany and Bayreuth. He is a laureate of the singing contests of M. S. Trnavský and E. Destinnová, as well as double semi-finalist of the Hans–Gabor–Belveder Contest in Vienna (1996 and 1997). He was engaged as a member of the Košice opera ensemble from the 1996/97 season till 2001, where he performed numerous roles – e. g. Alfredo in La traviata, the Duke in Rigoletto, Manrico in Il Trovatore, Ramades in Aida, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Rodolfo in La Bohéme, Jenik in The Bartered Bride, Don José in Carmen, or Turiddo in Cavalleria Rusticana. In 2001 Lehotský successfully appeared in the series of performances in the Irish Wexford as Pinkerton in Madamma Butterfly and as Jirik in The Jakobin. In recent years the young singer became a guest of opera houses in Germany, Austria, Hungary as well as in the Czech Republic – the Prague State Opera, the National Theatres in Prague and Brno. He gives many concerts presenting oratorios by L. Janáček, F. Schubert, W. A. Mozart, J. J. Ryba or J. Hayden. Since 2004, Lehotský has been in permanent engagement of the Slovak National Theatre’s Opera in Bratislava where he appeared in the premieres of The Kiss and Macbeth. Recently, he has been studying the works by Leos Janáček (Jenufa, The Fate, Glagolitic Mass).
