Martin Hrdinka

Martin Hrdinka was a screenwriter and presenter of the popular Czech Television Hit Parade of the best selling albums in 1990–1996, at that time the only programme of its kind presented in the Czech Republic. At the same time, Martin, together with model Kateřina Kornová and singer Michael Viktořík, presented a music video clip programme named O106 for Czech Television. In Czech Television, he invented the idea of awarding annual prizes of the Academy of Czech Popular Music (Czech Grammy – Angel). Martin is the co-founder of the Academy. He used to produce the screenplays and present the gala awarding of those prizes. For several years, he ranked among the most favourite hosts at Radio Evropa 2 – at that time a private radio station with the highest listener ratings – he acted as the morning host there as well.

In 1995, Martin joined Czech Radio One – Radiožurnál, the most favourite radio station in the whole of the Czech Republic. He has produced more than one hundred albums and is the author and co-producer of the most extensive opinion poll in the history of Czech pop music for “The Hit of the Century”. The live gala concert where the greatest stars of Czech pop music sang the best hits of the past century remains one of the most favourite programming items of TV Nova. He is the co-author of the musical Dirty Dancing presented in 2004 in Bratislava and the musical Jack the Ripper. Ever since 1999 he has been the director of Universetalent Praha, an international festival of popular music held under the auspices of FIDOF.
