Although his official studies at the J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem were directed toward a career as a teacher, he devoted himself privately to vocal training with Prof. J. Švábová. He debuted in Ústí as Colin in Puccini’s La Bohème, and sang Matouš, Kecal, and Mumlal in the classic Czech repertoire, Sparafucile and Don Basilio in the Italian repertoire, and Valesmanni in the Czechoslovak premiere of the Finnish national opera Pohjalajsia. On the international scene he actually debuted during his studies, he appeared in a concert in Den Haag, Holland. Later he sang on Danish and Belgian stages, in Vienna, in Macerata, Italy, in Bad Hersfeld, Helsinki, and Japan. He is collaborating with the opera in Brno and the theater in Ústí nad Labem. In the Prague State Opera he performed Ferrando, Ramphis, Biterolf, Mustafa, Dulcamara, Zuniga and other.
