Jana Sibera

Solo singer of the Prague State Opera House

Jana Sibera has graduated from the Prague Conservatory and from the Faculty of Music of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts. She has been perfecting her singing for several years already under the tutelage of the soprano Marie Haan. In the period of 1998–2000 she gave the guest performances at the scenes in České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, Ústí nad Labem and Carlsbad. During the same period she began to cooperate with the Prague National Theatre where she has studied a number of roles of the classic repertoire till now (Zerline, Papagena, Barbarine, Kitchen boy). In 2003 Ms. Sibera studied the triple role of the Small Waiter–Infant Prodigy–Pupil in the Janacek’s opera the Excursions of Mr. Broucek led by Sir Charles Mackerras. In 2002 she began to give guest performances in the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, where she appears in the role of Blonde (the Abduction from the Seraglio) and in the role of Norina (Don Pasquale). In 2002 she was engaged by the Prague State Opera House, where she has been given the opportunity to perform many roles of her voice line – e.g. Gilda (Rigoletto), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Frasquita (Carmen), Despina (Così fan tutte), Papagena and the Queen of the Night (the Magic Flute), the First Dryad (Rusalka, a Naiad), Priestess (Aida), Zerline (Don Giovanni, Mozart), Maturina (Don Giovanni, Gazzaniga), Cunegonde (Candide). In June 2008 Ms. Sibera became finalist of the Barbara Hendricks International Song Contest in Strassbourg.
