Adolf Melichar (born 1967) is a graduate of the Prague Conservatoire where he studied organ with Jiří Ropek and conducting with Přemysl Charvát, and of the Academy of Music in Prague where he studied conducting with Radomil Eliška and František Vajnar. While still a student he worked with several non-professional musical ensembles – the Kladno Symphony Orchestra, the College Artistic Chorus, and others – with which he completed successful trips abroad. After finishing his studies he served as a rehearsal coach and assistant chorus master at the Musical Theater in the Karlín district of Prague. He has been working with the Prague State Opera since 1999, first as a rehearsal coach then starting with the 2001/2002 season as chorus master.
