The Tap Tap at the Opera

St Nicholas Gala for children and grownups marking 20 years from the inception of the Jedlička Institute Foundation.

The Tap Tap is a band made up of disabled current and former students of the schools affiliated to the Jedlička Institute in Prague.

The band was formed in 1998 by Šimon Ornest who has remained in its lead to this day. The Tap Tap appears regularly at major Czech festivals (Between the Fences; Rock for People), as well as internationally (Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg), apart from which it has entertained guests at various corporate parties (Unicredit Bank, Bison & Rose, Sanofi Aventis, etc.).

The outfit’s recent triumphs have included the release of a new CD entitled A Party on Wheels, on which the band’s guests were David Koller, Matěj Ruppert, Ewa Farna, Kamil Střihavka, Ondřej Hejma, Dan Bárta, Zdeněk Svěrák, Tomáš Hanák and Jaroslav Svoboda.

The Tap Tap is currently preparing for a globetrotting string of appearances in Czech Centres abroad.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
