Johann Strauss was the most significant Viennese composer of easy-listening music of the 19th century. This “king of waltzes” is, besides other works, the author of a number of operettas, from among which alongside The Gypsy Baron it is Die Fledermaus – an ideal mixture of Viennese charm, humour and unbeatable zest for life – that belongs to the most successful ones.
Premiere: Dec 20, 1991
Running time: 2 hours 50 minutes with 2 intermissions
Performed in German with Czech and English captions.
Response in the press
“A performance with esprit and dynamism… A spectacular show in which the plot’s progress never falters.”
