Puccini Festival

Seit 1993 eröffnet die Staatsoper Prag jede neue Spielzeit mit dem Zyklus Verdi – Festival. Mit dieser außergewöhnlichen Veranstaltung bekennt sie sich zur Tradition des Neuen deutschen Theaters, wo vor 108 Jahren, im Jahre 1899, der damalige Direktor Angelo Neumann zum ersten Mal die sog. Maifestspiele veranstaltet hat, die bald sehr populär geworden sind. Fast jedes Jahr wurden verdische Opernzyklen organisiert, deren Protagonisten die größten Opernstars waren.

2005 hat sich die Staatsoper Prag entschieden, das Festival um Werke weiterer berühmter italienischer Komponisten zu erweitern, der diesjährige Jahrgang ist ausschließlich den Opern von Giacomo Puccini gewidmet. Vom 28. 8. bis zum 8. 9. werden die Besucher die Möglichkeit haben, die Inszenierungen der Opern Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut und Turandot zu sehen.

Die Titelrollen werden von den Solistinnen der Staatsoper Prag Anda-Louise Bogza (Tosca), Christina Wasilewa (Manon Lescaut und Madama Butterfly), Jitka Burgetová (Madama Butterfly), Simona Procházková (Manon Lescaut) und der bulgarischen Sopranistin Elena Baramova (Turandot 1. 9. und 7. 9.) dargestellt. Von den ausländischen Gästen werden der türkische Tenor Efe Kişlali als Renato des Grieux (Manon Lescaut 30. 8., 2. 9. und 6. 9.) und Luciano Mastro in der Rolle des Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly 5. 9. 2007) auf der Bühne der Staatsoper Prag auftreten.
