Tomáš Kořínek

Tomáš Kořínek comes from Vracov in Southern Moravia. He graduated from the Brno Conservatory and the Janacek Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in the field of singing. Still a student, he was already engaged as permanent guest singer at the Opera of the J. K. Tyl’s Theatre in Pilsen where he has received a permanent position in 2004. He is a holder of a number of prizes from competitions both in the Czech Republic and abroad. As soon as in 2004 he was among the preliminary nominations for the Thalia Prize for his rendition of Pedrillo in the J. K. Tyl’s Theatre in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio.

In the past theatre season, in addition to the roles in his home theatre, Tomáš Kořínek namely interpreted Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni in the National Theatre in Brno with great success. There he also gave guest performances as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Other interesting collaboration projects of the past season include the role of Ferrando in Mozart’s Cos? fan tutte with the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek for two performances – the first one in the Dvořák Hall of the Prague Rudolfinum and the second one within the scope of the tour of Spain of the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, or the January debut with the Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Vanished in the Paris Opera Bastille along with Martin Kasík (piano) and Veronika Hajnová (Zefka).

After the summer holidays, Tomáš Kořínek will study a number of interesting roles in the J. K. Tyl’s Theatre, and appear as guest singer in the Brno National Theatre and the Prague State Opera (inter alia in the role Števa in Janáček’s Jenufa or, again, Ferrando in Mozart’s Cos? fan tutte).

Tomáš Kořínek is a coveted performer of Baroque music, hence, in addition to his guest performances in opera houses, his cooperation with Collegium Vocale is of a great importance to him, too. With that ensemble he appeared at the Prague Spring Festival, and now he is rehearsing for a holiday tour of France. He participated in the Smetana’s Litomyšl international festival with the Bouquet of Flowers cantata by Bohuslav Martinů. At present he is rehearsing Judas Macabaeus, a large oratorium by Händel to be performed in Prague, Brno and Třebíč.
